Unable to sprint on Fifa 10 PS3

Hi,
My Fifa 10 on PS3 has completely lost the ability to sprint. When I press R2 and try to sprint with the ball the player just runs at normal pace. however if i don't have the ball, i can sprint. I have even tried reassigning the sprint button to X and R1 and still didn't work. So its not the pad (also works fine with other games)
I even deleted my personal profile and the game and re-installed and it still did not work.
Anyone else had this issue or know how to resolve it. I fear without resolving it that my Fifa10 is completely broke and i'll have to resort to PES.

Im having this same problem myself and it is driving me nuts! It seems to happen on and off, which is bizarre. I actually thought that it was BOTH my pads going dodgy, so i shelled out to by a new one (NOT cheap!!). Only to find after a couple of months later its happening to this.
So that indicates its not a controller issue, but a system or game bug!
Can someone please let us know if there is any fix to this as it is ruining the enjoyment out of the game when all of a sudden the player stops sprinting.|||I'm having exactly the same trouble, originally starting with WC 2010 then the bug transferred automatically to FIFA 10 as it must run on the same engine.. So I've tried deleting all game data, turning the ps3 on and off, quick formatting the ps3 and restoring back to default setting.. Still the problem occurs.. I called EA technical support they say it is a problem, without a solution.. So I gave the games to a mate who tried them on his ps3 and they worked normally.. So I assume it's an issue connected with the ps3.. Now currently I'm re formatting my ps3 in a last ditched effort to get it working, otherwise I'll ring EA up again and get them to replace the games for free (as a loyal customer for 15 years I expect it) or I'll switch to PES. Strange thing is, its happening only to me out of hundreds that i know play it. I have deleted a few old FIFA09 data from my PS3 and also because i created my custom config for controls, i saved it again and now the problem is lesser.....BUT NOT GONE!!
Surely if its something to do with the game, then a PATCH must be released?!!!

Solution, re format the PS3.. It will take you 14 hours and all data is lost, but it is worth it... game back to 100% normality|||I am not even computer literate and i discovered the problem before EA lol|||Any solutions found on this problem beside formating the ps?
This problem apeared all of a sudden to me and it sticks only to the very same controller all the time, funny, the controller works fine otherwise|||
actually guys the problem re occured after re mormatting the computer 4 times.. found out i had a faulty controller, bought a new one and now we are back to A1 normality again
